Research interests and PhD project:

His research interests lie at the intersection of agricultural and environmental economics, agri-food systems, and rural development, with a particular focus on consumer behavior, sustainability transitions, and value chain governance. His doctoral research examines how market structures, institutional arrangements, and policy interventions shape economic, social, and environmental outcomes in agri-food systems.

Objectives of the PhD research project:

  1. To assess whether contractual dairy farming influences the True Cost of milk production in Bangladesh, considering economic, environmental, and social externalities.
  2. To assess the impact of contractual dairy farming on smallholder farmers' income in Bangladesh.
  3. To identify the mechanisms through which contractual agreements influence smallholder farmers' income, including pricing structures, input provisions, and production outcomes.
  4. To investigate the implications of contractual dairy farming on market concentration within the dairy sector in Bangladesh
