Gaia Meoli graduated with a score of 109/110 in Animal Productions Sciences and Technologies (Class L-38) at the University of Pisa, with a thesis entitled: “the economic and environmental sustainability of cattle and buffalo farming in the context of climate change”.
After that, also at the University of Pisa, she graduated with top honors in Animal Productions Sciences and Technologies (Class LM-86) – curriculum Sustainable Animal Production, whit a thesis entitled: “the use of nutraceutical feed supplements to improve growth performance and health in Chianina calves”.
Since 01 november 2025 she is a PhD student in Advanced and Sustainable Agricultural-Forestry Systems at the Department of Agricultural, Food, Environmental and Forestry Sciences and Technologies (DAGRI).
CV: Advanced and Sustainable Agricultural-Forest Systems
Research interests and PhD project:
This doctoral project proposes a multidisciplinary approach that uses direct technologies for methane measurement (GreenFeed and Laser Methane Detector) in combination with milk chemical analyses, with the aim of identifying predictive models for estimating the environmental impact and production efficiency of dairy sheep in production.
The macroscopic objectives of the progect are:
• Identification of milk-derived indicators to estimate methane emissions;
• Construction of predictive models to support sustainable genetic selection aimed at reducing the ecological footprint of sheep farms without compromising production and reproductive performance;
