Marta Allegri obtained her Bachelor’s degree with a final grade of 107/110 from the Department of Cultural Heritage at the University of Siena (Class L-1), with a thesis adopting a geographical and landscape-oriented approach focused on the analysis of tourism flows in the San Gimignano area.
She continued her academic training with a Master’s degree in Landscape Sciences, curriculum Governance and Territorial Planning (Class LM-80), at the University of Padua, graduating with 110/110 cum laude. Her Master’s thesis, entitled “The Landscape of the Prosecco Hills: Historical Evolution of the UNESCO Buffer Zone between 1960 and 2023”, was developed in collaboration with the Landscape and Cultural Heritage Laboratory (CultLab), within the Department of Agricultural, Food, Environmental and Forestry Sciences and Technologies. She subsequently pursued her academic career as an Assistant Research Fellow at the UNESCO Chair “Agricultural Heritage Landscapes”, contributing to research support activities within several European projects in the agroforestry and agri-food sectors. Among these, the MedAgriFood Resilience project – “Socio-Environmental Shocks Assessment and Resilience Empowerment in Mediterranean Agri-Food Heritage Systems” – focused on three traditional agroforestry and agri-food systems recognized under the FAO GIAHS programme, with the aim of defining monitoring frameworks and effective strategies for mitigation and adaptation to socio-environmental shocks.
Her research activities include advanced landscape analysis through the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), applied to agro-ecological, technical-urban planning and economic geography disciplines, with a particular specialization in the agricultural sector. She has also developed expertise in statistical analysis and local development policies.

Research interests and PhD project:
The PhD project aims to develop an analytical and operational model for the assessment and planning of rural development strategies in inner areas with an agroforestry vocation, through the co-design of an integrated and multifunctional territorial model. The research seeks to contribute to the definition of innovative territorial governance approaches capable of enhancing biocultural heritage and strengthening the socio-economic and environmental resilience of marginal rural systems.
Specifically, the project pursues the following objectives:
Piras, F., Allegri, M., Fiore, B., Agnoletti, M., Santoro, A. (2024). “Cultural landscape transformations in the "Prosecco hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene" UNESCO World Heritage Site in the context of terrain morphology.
