I graduated with a master's degree in Agricultural Science and Technology with 110/110 cum laude in 2022. I became passionate about research while doing my thesis at the CNR research center in Sesto Fiorentino (FI). Before starting my PhD, I did a postgraduate internship in Valencia at the Istitut Valencià de Investigaciones Agrarias where I worked on a research project on the Mediterranean fruit fly.
Throughout my studies I have always worked, both in fields not relevant to my degree and on farms, particularly olive farms. I recently took an online course on hemp supply chain and cultivation promoted by a major company in the sector (Enecta), at the end of which I had the opportunity to do a 5-month internship at the same company.
During the course, we developed a research project to exploit the heavy metal phytoextraction properties of hemp in order to remediate polluted soils. This led to the creation of the RiqualifiCanapa Association, with which we began conducting several experiments both in pots and in the open field to test the viability of this practice.
My main research interests are in entomology and plant pathology; particularly concerning the main phytophages of olive and citrus and fungal diseases of grapevine, olive and citrus. I am also engaged in a phytoremediation research project with hemp and other plants that can extract heavy metals from the soil. My doctoral project will focus on grapevine trunk diseases.
